Using creative concepts and interactive exhibits, we developed an intuitive approach for visitors to engage with the theme of the exhibition THE ART OF STORAGE at the Draiflessen Collection. The exhibition explores the archive both as an institutional entity and as a metaphor, illustrating the complex processes of concealing and discovering, preserving and destroying, remembering and forgetting.
We designed an interactive installation for the museum foyer: a 16-meter-long projection of an archive shelf that responded to visitors passing by, revealing the collection objects in the archive boxes. Through movement and interaction, visitors could explore the archive shelf and access detailed information about individual objects on a large monitor. This immersive experience created a captivating and engaging atmosphere, allowing visitors to forge a personal connection with the stories and significance of the collection objects and experience the exhibition theme in a unique way.
For the exhibition tour, we designed an interactive film editing table that transported visitors into the fascinating world of moving images, illustrating the medium's importance for understanding contemporary events. Other interactive exhibits invited visitors to explore various archive materials, such as images, index cards, and archived slides.
These diverse interactive elements and film projections created a distinctive effect, enabling visitors to deeply immerse themselves in the exhibition theme and the stories behind the archived materials.
